Carl Martin Collins of North Myrtle Beach, S.C., died on Dec. 25, 2011, while visiting his grandchildren in Bethlehem, Pa. Services will be held Saturday, Jan. 7, 2012, at 2 p.m. at the King of Glory Lutheran Church, 805 11th Avenue North, North Myrtle Beach, S.C. Carl was born on May 11, 1939, in Newark, N.J. He was the son of the late Hildegard and Mark Collins. Lettering in three sports for Livingston High School, Carl went on to represent the U.S.A. on the National Basketball Team. Carl served in the U.S. Army. On May 16, 1965, he married Kathleen Hearns of Newburgh, N.Y. Carl served for 25 years on the Livingston Police and was recognized for his achievements by the state. In 1989, he moved with his family to North Myrtle Beach, S.C. He enjoyed walks on the beach, golfing, and spending time with his wife, children, grandchildren, family and friends. Carl is survived by Kathy Collins, his wife of 46 years; his daughter, Lisa Bologna and her husband, Ron, and granddaughters, Arianna, Alessandra and Isabella; his son, Carl Collins and his wife, Colby, granddaughter, Jordan, and grandson, Talon, and his brother, Mark Collins, as well as by numerous and loved family. He will be missed by all who knew him. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in his name to the church.
