Carl-Allen Mitchell, born in 1918, son of Harry and Mae-Mary-Elizabeth, father of David, Ardice, Gary and Judy, died on August 28, 2011. Please consult the obituary here:
MITCHELL Carl Allen Mitchell, 93 of Fairfield, passed away Thursday, August 28, 2011.He was born May 17, 1918 in Springfield, Mass., the eldest son of Harry and Mae (Mary Elizabeth Howard) Mitchell. He had three siblings, Norma Bourbeau, Joyce Anderson and Shirley Dalfonzo. Carl graduated from Agawam High School (1936), Atlantic Union College (1940, BA Chemistry) and Massachusetts State College (1944, MS Physics). He was a research chemist for Sun Oil Company, Philadelphia and later worked for Perkin Elmer. In 1945, Carl married Marjorie Woods. They had four children, Judy Helm, Gary Mitchell, Ardice Bednarczyk and David Mitchell. Carl liked golfing, hiking, camping at State Parks, and fossil collecting. He was an advanced class amateur radio operator, license W1LLV. Carl and Marjorie have been members of the Brooklawn Seventh-day Adventist Church in Bridgeport since 1960. He is survived by his wife, four children; five grandchildren; six great-grand-children; and sister, Joyce. A funeral service will be held Monday, August 1, 2011, at 10 a.m. meeting DIRECTLY at the Brooklawn Seventh-day Adventist Church, 250 Brooklawn Avenue, Bridgeport, CT 06604. In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made in Carl's memory to the American Radio Relay League, Education and Technology Fund, 225 Main St. Newington, CT 06111.
