CALVINALEXANDER, 84U.S. Army WINTER HAVEN - Master Sergeant Calvin Alexander, age 84, died of heart failure November 27, 2008 at Consulate Healthcare. Born in Smyrna, GA., on Aug. 12, 1924, he came to Winter Haven from Georgia, 80 years ago. He was a retired master sergeant in the U.S. Army after 26 years of service including WWII, Korea and Vietnam. He was formerly employed by Cummings Furniture and he retired from Tucker Carpets. He was a member of the American Legion Post #201 and New Bethel M.B. Church where he served as a deacon and was a member of Choir #1. Master Sergeant Calvin Alexander is survived by his wife Mildred Alexander, Winter Haven; daughter Rose Ann Mathis, Auburndale; sons Wallace Alexander, Plant City, FL., Lester Alexander, Phoenix, AR., Kevin Alexander, Lakeland; brother Johnny Adams, Cleveland, OH.; 17 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Alexander Funeral Home, 620 Ave. T. N.E., Winter Haven with a wake service at 7 p.m. Interment will be at 11 a.m. Wed. at Florida National Cemetery.
