September 22, 1926 -March 11, 2009 Carolyn C. Smith, age 82, an elementary teacher for 33 years, died March 11, 2009 at Majestic Oaks, Orange City, FL. Mrs. Smith was born in New York City, NY and moved to Peekskill in 1958. A graduate from the State University of New York at Oswego, she received her masters from Teacher's College, Columbia University. She taught overseas in Cucuta Columbia, South America, Kumamoto and Tokyo, Japan, and Schweinfurt, Germany. She was a teacher for the City of Peekskill Schools and retired from Woodside Elementary School in 1989. She lived at the Amberlands Apartments in Croton-on-Hudson. Survivors include two daughters Susan M. Smith, Redwood City, CA and Deborah L. Smith, Peekskill, NY. Donations made to the IBC Research Foundation are greatly appreciated.
