(Huard) Smith, 69, of Orange, died on Sunday morning, April 29, 2012 at Health Alliance Leominster Hospital, following an illness.Born in Athol on September 3, 1942, she was a daughter of Albert and Helen (Mallet) Huard and grew up in Athol, graduating from New Salem Academy in 1960.She was married to William A. Smith November 25, 1961, who died on March 2, 2009. They had lived in Orange since 1981.Carol had worked at the former Antwell Shoe Company and the former J. F. MacElwain Shoe Company, both in Athol.Carol enjoyed her time with her daughter and granddaughter, as well as painting and doing crafts.Survivors include her daughter, Laurie Howe of Leominster; granddaughter, Francesca Howe of Leominster; sisters, Marcia Perry of Orange and Kathleen Saveall of Leominster; and several nephews, nieces, aunts, uncles, and cousins.SMITH -- There are no calling hours.A private funeral service will be held with Rev.
