Caren Scarpulla-Terry of New Rochelle, NY, born December 9, 1955, age 51, died May 21, 2007, 12 noon, cancer. Caren Terry, art director, graphic designer, illustrator, animator and painter died May 21, 2007 in New Rochelle after a two year battle with cancer. She was 51. Caren attended Parsons School of Design in New York, NY and graduated with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in 1979. She was awarded the Estelle Hamburger scholarship while attending Parsons. A forerunner in the East Village's creative counterculture phonomenon, Caren founded B-Side Gallery in the early 1980's. B-Side was one of many storefront galleries in the network of underground artistic scenes, which infused punk, hip-hop and rock music directly into contemporary graffiti art and multi-media presentation. She later translated her talents into the form of Television and Feature animation. Her Animation career highlights included background color stylist for the inventive and novel cartoon series Ren and Stimpy and visual development at Disney for the full length animated feature film Home On The Range. And as creator, writer, animator Director of her own animated film short..."Liver, Lust or Louie" for the outrageous film festival. Caren also enjoyed many hobbies including photography, pallete knife painting, needle point, playing the piano and body building. Caren recently moved to New York and co-founded Fury Productions, with her husband of 13 years, Gary Terry. Fury Productions will be offering a line of comics, graphic novels and trade paperbacks in 2008. Caren is survived by her husband, Gary Terry of New Rochelle, New York. They were married in 1995 in Las Vegas, NV. She is also survived by her father, Ignatius George Scarpulla of Philadelphia, PA, her twin sister, Clare of Los Angeles, CA, her sister, Marie of Philadephia, PA and Madelyn of New York, NY and her brother, John and sister-in-law, Allyson Yarborough of Rancho Palos Verdes, CA. Caren was laid to rest at Gate of Heaven Cemetery in Valhalla, NY on May 26, 2007.
