SMITH Brenda Jean, lost her courageous battle against cancer at age 47. She was born May 17th, 1955 to Mary and George Hawryluk in Edmonton. She married the love of her life Walter Szewczyk when she was 19 years old. She was at his side when he died January 25, 2000. Their love carried through the U.S.A. and Canada. She loved family, gardening, bird watching and she truly enjoyed and appreciated the intricate beauty and subtle peace found in nature all around her. She is survived by her mother, Mary; sisters, Sonja (David) and Judy (Craig); brothers Brian, Ted and George (Marcia). A very special thanks to all the dedicated staff and volunteers at the Victoria Hospice who made Brenda's final hours on earth peaceful and painless.
