Brenda Gail Clay BRISTOL - Brenda Gail Clay passed away Tuesday, July 17, 2007, peacefully at her home in Bristol, after a valiant struggle with cancer. There is much joy in Heaven over the return of this choice spirit. Services will be at 10 a.m. EDT Friday, at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in Bristol with burial at Lake Mystic Cemetery.The viewing will be from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Bevis Funeral Home of Bristol (850-643-3636). In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Liberty County Senior Citizens Center or Liberty County Transit P.O Box 730 Bristol, FL 32321. Brenda was born Dec. 23, 1944, in Arcadia, Fla., to Walter Lee and Verna Money.She was the oldest of four children. She grew up in Bristol, and was a lifelong resident. Brenda graduated from Liberty County High School and she also took many college and educational courses throughout her life. She married Leroy Clay on June 8, 1969 in Bristol. They were married 37 years. Brenda was the executive director for Liberty County Senior Citizens for the past 27 years and director for Liberty County Transit for the past 23 years.She was also on the Elder Care Services Advisory Council, Senior Companion Program board member, and the administrator for the Salvation Army for Liberty and Calhoun County. She was the first woman to join the Bristol Lion's Club. She was also on many other boards and councils in the state. She dedicated her life to the community and gave a helping hand to all those in need.She worked tirelessly for the benefit of the senior citizens of Liberty County and all seniors. She loved to fish and enjoys a day on the river. She was considered by many to be a great dancer. She loved children and was a "mother" to many. She was loved and admired by all who knew her. "Some people come into our lives and quickly go; some stay for a while and leave footprints on our hearts and we are never the same." Brenda left footprints on many hearts.Brenda is survived by her sister, Mary Ann Isaksen (and husband Hank); her brother, Walter Lee Money Jr. (and wife Ivette); her nephews, Kristopher (and wife April), Nicholas and Jake Money; her nieces, Jana (and husband Rob), Kari, Mary Beth (and husband Jeremy), and Laura (and husband Scott). She had eight great-nephews and two great-nieces.Brenda was preceded in death by her husband, Leroy Clay; her parents, Walter Lee and Verna Money; and her sister, Verna Lee Parrish.
