The life of Bonnie Campbell Davis, 100, of South Adelle Ave., Deland, FL, who passed away on Saturday, April 11, 2009, has richly blessed her family. She was a devoted mother with an abiding faith in God. Bonnie was born to Matilda and Lucius Campbell on March 6, 1909 in Sumter, South Carolina. She was a member of Bethel A.M.E. Church for many years. She celebrated her 100th birthday March 6, 2009. She was a domestic worker in the DeLand community. She also was an excellent cook and housekeeper. Bonnie Davis was married to Horace Monroe and from this union there were three children: Ethel Townsend, Mildred Valarie, and Elizabeth Ryoland. Other survivors include: grandchildren, Rev. Reginald Townsend (Ferlandia), Lynette Nephew (a special caregiver), Sarah Sanker, Horace Townsend, Philip Townsend (Myra), Yancy Townsend, Darlene Perkins (Windell), and James Philip Ryoland; 20 great-grands, Bridget Singletary (special caregiver); 20 great-great-grands; a multitude of nieces, nephews and other relatives. Rosa Lee Lane was a special friend. Bonnie was preceded in death by her parents, and grandchildren, Dwight Valrie and Bonnie Smiley. The funeral service will be held 12:00 noon Saturday, April 18, 2009 at Greater Refuge Church of Our Lord, 316 S. Adelle Ave., DeLand, FL. Bishop James Darby, Pastor. Reverend Reginald Townsend, grandson, will deliver the main eulogy.
