McDONALD _ Blanche Evelyn (nee Finck) Blanche passed away peacefully on September 15th, 2006. Born on East Ironbound Island, NS she met and married James Joseph (Jim) McDonald of Rolla, BC in Halifax on April 30th, 1945. She is survived by her loving husband Jim, her children Douglas, Delphine (Malcolm) Metcalf and Norma (Sisters of Holy Cross). Nanny was adored by her 3 grandchildren, Craig (fiancee Charlotte), Sara and Veronica. She will also be deeply missed by her brothers Charles (Beatrice), Blandford NS, Josh (Helen), Parksville, BC and Shirley (Richard, predeceased) Hammonds Plains, NS and sister-in-law, Margaret Finck, Qualicum, B.C. and her nieces, nephews and friends. She was predeceased by her sister Marjorie (St. Claire) Langille and her brother Roy, husband of Margaret. Blanche was an active member of the I.O.F (Court Pacific Gateway), the St. Edmund's Parish CWL, the Baden Powell Guild (# 13 North Vancouver), the Lynn Valley Canadian Legion (Branch #144), the North Shore Neighbourhood House Heart and Stroke Club and volunteered many hours to the Canadian Blood Services. In addition to the great love she felt for her family, Blanche was well known for her beautiful garden which won awards as recently as this summer. Prayers will be held on Wednesday, September 20th at 7 p.m. and the Mass of Christian Burial will be on Thursday September 21st at 11 a.m. at St. Edmund's Church, 545 Mahon St, North Vancouver, BC. A reception will be held in the hall followed by interment at Gardens of Gethsemane (Delta). In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Sisters of Holy Cross for Mission Projects (905, rue Basile-Moreau, Saint-Laurent, QC H4L 4A1) or the Canadian Diabetes Association.
