Billy Ray "Puddin" Owen, 53, of 230 Raven Cliff Road, husband of Cindy Metts Owen, died Wednesday, July 21, 2004, at his home.Born in Sylva, N.C., he was the son of the late Conway and Lois Elizabeth Hall Owen.Mr. Owen was a self-employed woodworker, and was a member of Keowee Baptist Church.Surviving are his wife, of the home; two sons, Jamie Orr, of Brevard, N.C., and Tyler Owen, of the home; a daughter, Sonia Metts, of Greer; three brothers, Truitt Owen, of Tuskeegee, N.C., Linville H. Owen, of Balsam Grove, N.C., and Verlin R. Owen, of Easley; four sisters, Belva Childress and Sylvia Galloway, both of Balsam Grove, N.C., Joyce Tanner and Sue McCall, both of Easley; and five grandsons.In addition to his parents, Mr. Owen was predeceased by a brother.Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday July 24, 2004, in the chapel of Dillard Funeral Home in Pickens, with burial at Hillcrest Memorial Park.The family will receive friends Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.Flowers accepted, or memorials may be made, to Cancer Center of the Carolinas, 65 International Drive, Greenville, SC 29615.The family will be at 187 B.D. Johnston Road, Central, SC 29630.Dillard Funeral Home is assisting the Owen family.
