Obituary of Billie-Gail Smith


Funeral will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Morgan Funeral Chapel for Billie Gail Smith, 73, Attalla, who went to be with her Lord and Savior on Friday, Dec. 9, 2011. The Rev. Clarence Quarles will officiate. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery. Morgan Funeral Chapel and Crematory is directing.Billie was a member of Sand Valley House of Prayer recently and a longtime member of Lester Street Church of God. She was a graduate of Etowah High School. Billie worked at Etowah County Courthouse, Lee Plant, HealthTex, Sunbeam Bread and KFC/ Noccalula Chevron. She was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, A.G. Smith.Survivors are her daughters, Denise (Keith) Davenport, Attalla, and Dana (Ronnie) Disspain, Altoona; sons, Matt (Tammy) Smith and Merrell Smith, both of Attalla; seven grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; sister, Jane Johnson, Rainbow City; brother, Roy Matthews, Valley; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins; brothers and sisters-in-law; aunts; neighbors and friends; special pet, Jake.Pallbearers will be Keith Davenport, Ronnie Disspain, Alan Johnson, Nathan Johnson, Richard Matthews and Christopher Farmer.Honorary pallbearers will be Dr. Greg Sullivan, Dr. Debora Reiland, staff and residents of Health Care INC and Odyssey Hospice.Visitation will be from 6 to 8 tonight at Morgan Funeral Chapel.
