CARTER, BEVERLY FAY, 90, passed into eternal life on January 19, 2012, after a short bout with Pneumonia. At the time of her passing, she was residing at the Thompson Hood Veterans Center in Wilmore, KY. She was a proud veteran of the Navy Nurse Corps. After graduating from Nursing School in Owensboro, KY in 1943, she was stationed at the Naval Base in San Diego, CA. It was there that she met her first husband, Don Pike Sr., who had just returned after the war from being a P.O.W. in Japan. They were married in 1945 and lived for many years in San Luis Obispo, CA. She worked her entire career as a registered nurse. She and her second husband, Dr. Charles Kenneth McClenathan, retired to Ft. Myers, FL in 1981. Upon his passing in 1991, she returned to her beloved "Hills of Kentucky." It was there that she rekindled a romance from her girlhood, and married her late husband "Fiddling Jack Carter," a wonderful musician that she enjoyed accompanying on the guitar. She was preceded in death by her late husband, Marion Jackson Carter; parents, father Beverly Archellis Maden, mother, Mary Jane Ragland; brother, Ray Thomas Maden; daughter, Teri Donya Pike; and granddaughter, Tiffany Marie Mortenson. She is survived by her son, Don Pike (Carrie) of Prospect, KY; grandsons, Cody (Rachel) of Deland, FL, Kendall and Andrew; and one granddaughter, Kelly Caitlin Pike, all of Oldham, County, KY; and one stepson, Wes Chapman of Oldham County, KY. Arrangements were handled by Care Cremations of Lexington, KY. A memorial service is planned for early spring.
