Obituary of Beverly-D. Harris


BEVERLY D. HARRIS1930 - 2008Beverly D. Harris passed away on Saturday, July 19, 2008. She was born in Akron, Ohio on November 14, 1930.She graduated from LaGrange College in 1951 and married John D. Harris the same day at First Methodist Church in LaGrange, Georgia. Her chief joy was being a homemaker and nurturing their four children Susan, Jeanne, Joel and Leisa, and later their nine grandchildren and three great grandchildren. In later years she taught Adult Basic Education and English as a Second Language for Pensacola Junior College. She also taught at Liberty Bible College. She and John served on the board at Our Mother's Home for unwed mothers and were very active in the Pro-Life movement in Pensacola. For many years she sang in the Choral Society of Pensacola, serving as President and Vice-President of its Board of Directors. She also served on the founding board of Arts Council of Northwest Florida.She considered her highest teaching honor to assist her daughter, Susan in home educating their children (Matthew, Melody and Luke). She was blessed of the Lord to use her voice to sing his praises.Beverly is survived by her faithful husband, John D. Harris, Jr. of 57 years; children, Susan Infinger, Jeanne Smith, Joel Harris, and Leisa Dove; grandchildren, Jason, Jonathan, and Audria Smith, Matthew, Melody and Luke Infinger, Andrew, Austin and Elizabeth Harris; great grandchildren Carlyle Smith, Mary Grace and Laci Smith.The celebration of Beverly's life will be held on July 26, 2008 at 2:00 p.m. at Warrington United Methodist Church.
