Betty Jean Smith, 81, of Florence, Ala., passed away, Saturday, Jan. 19, 2013. She was a native of Lauderdale County and was a member of North Village Baptist Church.Visitation will be held Sunday, Jan. 20, 2013, 2:30-3:30 p.m., at Greenview Funeral Home. A graveside service will follow at 4 p.m. at Pleasant Hill Cemetery, with the Rev. Charlie James officiating.She was preceded in death by her husband, Sammy D. Smith, four brothers and three sisters.Survivors include her son, Sammy D. Smith, Jr. (Stacey); daughters, Janice A. Smith Garrie (David), Linda Smith Briglia, Joan A Herston (Rick), and Teresa L. Whitmon (Danny); brothers, George Crittenden (Brenda), and Robert Crittenden (B.G.); sister, Patsy Steadman (Roderick); grandchildren, Shannon Steadman, David L. Fretwell, Terry M. Whitmon, Arnold E. Briglia II, Melanie Smith, Heather A. Swedenburg, Kristen M. Briglia, Matthew Smith, Marshall Smith, and Brittany Rich; 10 great-grandchildren.Pallbearers will be David Lee Fretwell, Benjamin A. Kelly, Arnold E. Briglia II, Terry M. Whitmon, Matthew E. Smith and Marshall D. Smith.
