Betty Smith, born in 1930, spouse of Howard Smith, daughter of William-Clinton-Beckham and Ruth-Parker, mother of Dallas, died on August 29, 2006 at 76 years old.
SMITH, Betty Rose, 76, of Riverview, Fla., passed away peacefully, at her home Tuesday, August 29, 2006. She was a resident of Riverview for 46 years. She was a member of Hillsborough Region Antique Automobile Club of America for 26 years. The original Queen Mum of the Riverview Red Hats and co-founder and Queen Mum of the Precious Red Hats of Riverview. For many years she was heavily involved with the Cub and Boys Scouts of America. For 21 years she was a member of the Riverview First Assembly of God and a volunteer for the senior citizens group for 18 of those years . Presently, she was an active member of the Clair Mel First Assembly of God. She was preceded in death by her father, William Clinton Beckham Sr.; mother, Ruth Parker Cornelius; and sister, Virginia Beckham Childs. She is survived by her loving husband of 47 years, Howard Smith; her son, Dallas Smith, his wife, Jill; her stepdaughter, Linda Orrison, her husband, Craig; her devoted sister, Dorothy Nell "Dot" Beckham Schuck; brother, William C. Beckham and his wife, Margaret; seven grandchildren, Ryan and Aaron Smith, Brad and Brett Orrison, Brooke Orrison Lewis, Meagan and Heather Begley; two nephews, five nieces, five great-nephews and nieces, and two great-great-nephews. A gathering of friends to celebrate her life will be conducted at 10 a.m. Tuesday, September 12th at Clair Mel First Assembly of God and a service conducted by the Rev. John Raburn will follow at 11 a.m. She will be deeply missed by all whose lives she touched.
