Obituary of Betty-S. Carter

Mrs. Betty Sue Carter, age 71, of Florence, died Monday, May 12, 2003.Visitation will be 6-9 p.m. Thursday, May 15, 2003, at Spry Serenity Chapel, Florence. The funeral service will be at 3 p.m. Friday, May 16, 2003, at Salvation Army Church, Florence, with Capt. Wayne Leister officiating. The casket will be placed in the church one hour before the service. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers. Interment will follow in Hill Cemetery.Mrs. Carter was a native of Lauderdale County and a member of Salvation Army Church. She was a loving mother and aunt.She was preceded in death by her husband, James M. Carter; parents, L. and Ida Clemmon; and by a brother, Cordis Clemmon.Survivors include her son, James D. Carter and wife, Sandra, of Florence; sister, Jewel Stellges and husband, Richard, Newport Richie, Fla.; nieces, Darlene Hinton and husband, Eugene, Carolyn Phipps, Rickie Sue Stellges, Jo Ann Roberson, all of Newport Richie, Fla., Irene Henry of Scottsboro, Ala., and Patricia Ann Roof of Kissimmee, Fla.; nephew, Calvin Stellges of Newport Richie, Fla.; stepgrandchildren, Clarence, Shannon and Sharon Manning, Mary Sellers, all of Pensacola, Fla.The family wishes to express a special thanks to Dr. Webb and the fifth-floor nursing staff at ECM Hospital.Spry Serenity Chapel, Florence, is directing.
