-> Betty Lanier Smith, 87, died August 31, 2003 in Memorial University Medical Center. She was born February 16, 1916 in Ware County daughter of Charles Irvin and Stella Taylor Lanier. Mrs. Smith lived most of her life in Savannah and was a homemaker. Her husband, Charles G. Smith preceded her in death. Surviving are two daughters and sons-in-law, Janet G. and Steve Miller of Rincon, Delories and R. B. Matthews of Savannah; two sons and daughter-in-law, Lloyd E. and Joann Bell of Savannah, Charles H. Bell of Richmond Hill; step children, Joyce Cowart, Danny Smith, Charles Smith, Ronnie Smith, Dickie Smith, Alan Smith Shirley Larkicy all of Savannah, Everett Smith of Richmond Hill; 17 grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren, six great-great-grandchildren and numerous step grandchildren.
