Mrs. Betty June (Walker) CoxAndersonMrs. Betty June Cox, of Anderson, went to her final home in Heaven on May 10, 2014. She was 82 years old, born in Laurens, SC on June 13, 1931, the daughter of the late Roy Lee and Mary Sue (Dagnall) Walker. She was preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, Winford Mitchell Cox, and her sister, Ruby Nell (Walker) Hunter.Mrs. Cox was the proud mother of three children, Michael Lee Cox (wife, Myra), Linda L. Cox, and Diane Patterson (husband, Daryl), all of Anderson. She was blessed with nine grandchildren and thirteen great-grandchildren. She is also survived by brothers-in-law, Lindell Cox (wife, Joyce) and Gerald Cox (wife, Joyce) and sister-in-law, Sara Timms and many nieces and nephews.Mrs. Cox's family was her source of happiness. In earlier years of their marriage, Winford and Betty had a music ministry to surrounding communities singing on radio stations and to shut-ins. Mrs. Cox worked for Essex International, was an award-winning saleslady for Baby Superstore, and later retired while working at Belk's. She was a Charter member of River of Life Church of God in Anderson and a volunteer for the Anderson County Museum. Mrs. Cox will be remembered by her lifelong friends as a warrior of God, a faithful friend, and a woman who had a pure heart who knew no prejudices and never met a stranger. She loved her gardens, church, family, and her cat, JOJO. Special thanks to the nurses and doctors of Greenville Memorial Hospital, and a host of long time friends for their faithfulness to her through the years. She will be remembered to everyone as "Nannie", a woman who knew no end to the giving of her love and owned the title of "Head Chef".Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Sullivan-King Mortuary Chapel conducted by Rev. Kevin Jones and Rev. Stacey Cox. Burial will follow in Oaklawn Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 12 noon until 1:45 p.m. Tuesday at the mortuary. The family is at the home of Michael and Myra Cox, 113 Stone Cottage Drive, Brookstone Meadows, Anderson.Flowers are optional; memorials may be made to Hospice of the Upstate, 1835 Rogers Road, Anderson, SC 29621 or Shriners Hospitals for Children, 950 West Faris Road, Greenville, SC 29605.
