Betty-June Smith, spouse of The-Humane Society, mother of Xavier, Ohio, Johnny and Sharon, died on March 9, 2008.
SMITH, Betty June, 81 of Tampa, passed away in peace Sunday, March 9, 2008, at LifePath Hospice, Temple Terrace. She was surrounded by her loving daughter, Sharon Hubbard of Tampa, and loving sister, Shirley Loughney of Akron, Ohio. She is also survived by her niece, Cindy Pratt, her husband, John and their son, Johnny, of Akron, Ohio; nephew, Paul Moon, his wife, Carmen, and son, Xavier, of Canton, Ohio; great-nephew, Paul Moon III; and numerous friends, too many to count. Betty lived in Florida since moving here with her daughter in 1957 from Akron, Ohio. She was employed as a secretary with the Hillsborough County 13th Judicial Circuit Court until her retirement in 1997, when she was able to pursue other interests. She loved gardening, traveling extensively with her daughter and volunteering at University Community Hospital, where she amassed more than 4,500 hours of volunteer service. Betty was a lifelong animal lover and a supporter of The Humane Society of Tampa Bay, where she would appreciate donations to, or to LifePath Hospice, in lieu of flowers. A memorial service will take place at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, March 18, 2008, at Blount & Curry Funeral Home, Terrace Oaks Chapel. The family will receive friends one hour prior to services at the funeral home. Words of comfort may be expressed at www.blountcurry.com
