BETTY JOYCE SMITH GRIFFITH, IN Betty Joyce Smith, age 61, of Griffith, IN, passed away peacefully Tuesday, June 24, 2008 while at the Community Hospital of Munster, IN. Born September 18, 1946 in Gary, IN, Betty was the daughter of the late Joseph and Mabel (nee Helton) Cudziol. She was employed for many years as a cheerful cook and custodian for the Griffith Public School system. Betty was a regular member of Faith Reformed Church of Dyer and in her spare time, enjoyed antiquing and working in her beautiful yard. She also graciously volunteered her time for the Special Olympics. Her presence will be missed and her memory cherished by the many lives she touched. Surviving to mourn her passing are loving sons: Steven (Kristina) Smith of Merrillville, IN and Timothy Allen Smith of Griffith, IN; beloved grandchild: Dakota Smith; close brothers and sister: Joseph (Kathy) Cudziol of Gary, IN, John (Terri) Cudziol of Douglassville, GA, James (Marcie) Cudziol of Valley Springs, CA and Patricia (William) Van Blaircom of Demotte, IN; as well as seven dear nieces and nephews; and many cousins and friends.
