TeacherAUBURNDALE -- Mrs. Betty Jo Smith of Auburndale died of cancer Tuesday (Nov. 18, 2003) at home. She was 67.Born Nov. 30, 1935, in Bartow, she was a lifelong resident of the area, moving to Auburndale 60 years ago. She was a teacher. She was a graduate of Florida Southern College, Lakeland. She was a member of First Missionary Baptist Church, Auburndale.Mrs. Smith is survived by her husband, Billy Joe Smith; sons, David Alan Smith and Patrick Lynn Smith, both of Auburndale, and Stephen Edward Smith, Lakeland; mother, Ruth Frankenburger, Auburndale; sisters, Barbara Nally and Janet Seibel, both of Lakeland, and Jean Huntley, Auburndale; five grandchildren.Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at Auburndale Memorial Park.In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, 192 Ave. D N.W., Winter Haven, FL 33880.
