Betty-Jean Smith, spouse of Larry Smith, died.
Betty Jean Nesbitt Smith, 61, passed away on Thursday, Feb. 5, at Memorial Health University Medical Center in Savannah. A native of Long County, she was born to the parentage of Maggie D. Wright Nesbitt and Redell Nesbitt. She was a devoted wife and mother. She earned her license as a certified nursing assistant and obtained employment with the Glenview Nursing Home. She also worked for home health care as a domestic, assisting patrons with daily home living skills. A devoted member of Faith Temple Ministries, she was very involved with many auxiliaries of the church such as secretary and church mother, president of the women's auxiliary and community outreach for the handicap. Survivors include her husband, Larry Smith; two sons and their spouses, John Larry and Rikki Smith of Hinesville, Paul Michael and Bonnie Smith of Glennville, three daughters and spouses, Lisa Smith of Glennville, Ida L. and Tim Guest of Ludowici, and Sandra and Reggie Lovett of Hinesville; six brothers and spouses, Devon Wright of Glennville, Marvin Nesbitt, James Nesbitt, Virgil and Carrie Nesbitt of Ludowici, T.J. and Betty Nesbitt of Philadelphia, Pa., Al and Rita Nesbitt of Ft. Washington, Md.; three sisters and spouses, Suzette and Herbert Jordan of Columbia, S.C., Regina Williams, Sarah and Trent McArthur, all of Glennville; and 10 grandchildren. Visitation will be 7-8 p.m. Wednesday at the Dorchester Funeral Home of Midway. Funeral service will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at Faith Temple Ministries, 53 Church Corner Road, N.E., in the Sandhill community of Glennville. Her Body will be placed in the church at noon. Interment will be in Macedonia Baptist Church Cemetery in Ludowici. Dorchester Funeral Home has charge of the arrangements.
