BETTY JEAN SCOTT WHITING, IN Betty Jean Scott (nee Cline), 73, of Whiting, passed away peacefully at her home on April 12, 2010 following a courageous battle with breast cancer. She leaves behind to cherish her memory four children: Mark (Joyce) Scott, Vicki (Tomas) Scott-Sach, Greg Scott and Jill (William) Singleton; seven grandchildren: Julie White, Rachel and Rebecca Maslikowski, Brittany and Evan Scott, Elizabeth Singleton and Emily Scott; four brothers: Pete (Marianne) Cline, Kenneth (Mary Ann) Cline, Lester (Faye) Cline and Jerry (Joann) Cline; a sister, Lois Henry-Judy; eight nieces and nephews; and many dear friends. She was preceded in death by a niece, Janet Henry; two brothers-in-law: Walt Henry and Bob Judy; and a sister-in-law, Ruth Ann Cline. We will Celebrate the Life of Betty Jean on Saturday, April 24, 2010 at 12:00 noon at the New Life Christian Church, 1829 Central Ave., Whiting with Pastor Paul Vale, officiating. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the Baran Funeral Home, 1235-119th Street, Whiting, IN. Betty Jean Scott was born on February 15, 1937 in Minonk, IL to Oran and Esther (Cook) Cline. She was a graduate of LaRose High School, LaRose, IL and had worked as a foreman in the construction industry. Her love of books, her laughter and selfless love will live on through all those who knew and loved her.
