Betty Jean Brown Ross, 70, of 2701 E. Phillips Road, widow of Richard Calvin Ross, died Dec. 5, 2001, at Allen Bennett Hospital. A native of Pelham, daughter of the late Nelson and Effie Jones Brown. She was a retired assistant Deli Manager for Winn-Dixie and of the Baptist faith. Surviving are three sons, Kenneth Ross of Lyman and Reggie Gene Ross and Ron Calvin Ross, both of Greer; one brother, George Brown of Alabama; two sisters, Dorothy Underwood and Willie Mae Avery, both of Greer; four grandchildren; and one great-grandchildren. Mrs. Ross was predeceased by a brother, Malcomb Jones. Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Saturday at The Wood Mortuary, conducted by the Rev. Kirt Mitchell, the Rev. Ansel Norris, and the Rev. Kile Antone. Burial will follow in Hillcrest Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers will be Ralph Pittman, Brian Wilson, Jimmy Wood, Wayne Underwood, Broadus Underwood, and Steven Underwood. Henry Ford will serve as honorary escort. Visitation will be held 7 to 9 p.m. tonight at The Wood Mortuary. The family is at the home of a grandson, Richey Ross, 202 Roscoe Drive, Greer.
