NEWMARKET — Betty Jean Davis, 91, died Feb. 7, 2011, after a short illness.Born Sept. 21, 1919, in Smithfield, Penn., she was the daughter of William and Winifred (Boyle) Danser. A long time resident of Vallejo, Calif., she lived in Benicia, Calif., for 5 years before moving to Newmarket, N.H., in 1999.Betty pursued a career as an LVN. She worked at Vallejo General Hospital and for the State of California as a psychiatric nurse before retiring in 1972. She had various interests from gardening, quilting, sewing to reading. Her favorite pastime was cross stitching. She loved Boston Terriers and had several through her lifetime. She is survived by: her three sons, William F. Davis and his wife Tome, and Norman J. Davis Jr. and his wife Pat, all of California, and James M. Davis of Nevada; one daughter, Winifred Berger of Newmarket with whom she resided.
