Betty Jean Carter-DeKay 72, of San Mateo, died Friday, Feb. 25, 2005 at Putnam Community Medical Center in Palatka.Born on Sunday, March 6, 1932 in St. Augustine, she was blessed with a compassionate loving spirit. Betty lived and worked all her life in the St. Augustine area. She worked at Sun State Marketing and was a volunteer in the community, an alternate delegate to the Civic Round Table for St. Johns County and secretary for the Audubon Society Board of Directors. She is preceded in death by her loving husband Clyde DeKay. Betty is survived by her children: Betty Jo, William, Theresa, Keith and Kenneth; grandchildren: Noel, Justin, Mickey, Bradley, Chris, Patrick, Shannon and Nickolas; great-grandchildren: Lilly, Michael and Morgan; brother Gerold "Jerry" Carter; sister Geroldine Erffer; and numerous members of her extended family who will miss her dearly. A "Celebration of Betty's Life" will be 1 p.m. Tuesday, March 1, 2005 at Watts Funeral Home Chapel in San Mateo, with Rev.
