-> Mrs. Betty J. Lees passed away, Wednesday morning, December 15, 2004. Born in Wisconsin, she moved to Savannah from Chicago in 1972. Her last years were spent as an Elder Rights Activist speaking out frequently on behalf of those who had no voice. She was active advocating for transit services for older individuals and the disabled. Betty also worked as volunteer at the Savannah Regional Office of Georgia Legal Services, where she assisted elderly and disabled individuals deal with consumer, utility, public benefits and other issues. Survivors: four sisters, Cecilia (George) Lochr of Fond Du Lac, WI, Rose Michels, FondDu Lac, WI, Ruth (Jerald) Steffen, Las Vegas, NV, Mary Alice (Warren) Schlueter, Santa Barbara, CA; numerous nieces; nephews; and many, many friends who will miss her greatly. There will be a memorial in the Gazebo in Whitfield Square in early April. Details will be released at a later date. Remembrances: Savannah Regional Office, Georgia Leg al Services, P.O.
