Obituary of Betty-I. Carter


CARTER Betty I. Carter, 83, native Floridian and longtime resident of Jacksonville, passed away May 8, 2013 surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Jennings, FL daughter of the late Alvin and Irene (Scaff) Culbreth. Betty was pre deceased by her husband of 50 years, Frank Carter. She worked at Englewood High School for over 30 years. Betty was a loving and devoted wife, daughter, mother, grandmother, sister and friend. Surviving are two children, Terri (John) Jarrett, and Toni (Mike) Smith, grandchildren, Kristi Jarrett, Andrea (Josh) Holland, Kelli (Matt) Sylvester, one great grandson, Weston, a sister, Jon Eva Hungerford, her beloved cat, Patches and many dear relatives and friends. The family will receive friends on Sunday, May 12, from 4 6 pm at Hardage-Giddens Funeral Home, 4115 Hendricks Ave., Jacksonville, FL 32207. A celebration of her life will be held at 11:00 am on Monday, May 13, 2013 at the funeral home. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Cemetery, 4300 Beach Blvd., Jacksonville, FL 32207. Donations in Betty's name can be made to Community Hospice Foundation, 4266 Sunbeam Road, Jacksonville.
