Betty-Ellen L. Carterlived in Tewksbury for five decades; 78 TEWKSBURY Betty-Ellen L. (Hobbs) Carter, age 78, a Tewksbury resident for 59 years, passed away on Wednesday, December 9, 2009, at the Wingate of Andover.She was the wife of Frank E. Carter, with whom she celebrated their 59th wedding anniversary on July 22, 2009.Born in Lowell on April 11, 1931, she was the daughter of the late Frank and Agnes (Wiggley) Hobbs.Betty was raised in Tyngsboro,attended Tyngsboro schools, and graduated from Lowell High School in 1948.Following her marriage in 1950, Betty dedicated her life to her husband, children, and grandchildren.She enjoyed knitting, reading,crochet, and traveling to Florida with her husband.In addition to her husband Frank, Betty is survived by five children, Frank E. Carter, Jr. and his wife, Theresa of Hubert, NC, Mark J. Carter and his wife, Carolyn of Pelham, NH, Steve A. Carter of Tewksbury, Cheryl A. Chandler and her husband, Mark of Tyngsboro, and Beth E. Carter of Royalston; 10 grandchildren, Jason J., Frank E. Carter, III, Matthew I. Carter, Michael J. and Christopher D. Carter, Melissa A., Julie E. and James K. Chandler, Kimberlee E. and Michele E. Thompson; four great-grandchildren; one brother, John Hobbs and his wife, Janet of Sanford, Maine; also many sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, nieces and nephews.Betty was the sister of the late Francis "Hank" Hobbs.CARTER Betty-Ellen L.
