BETTY DELL SMITH (NEE STORM-STRANDBERG) SCHERERVILLE, IN Betty Dell Smith (nee Storm-Strand- berg), age 82, of Schererville, IN, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on Tuesday, February 19, 2008 while at her home. Born August 16, 1925 in Wheeling, IL, Betty was the daughter of the late Paul and Mabel (nee Lemm) Storm. A graduate of Bloom High School, she was a member of the Class of 1943 and was about to have her 65th reunion. She and her soul-mate, John Smith, were wed April 1, 1961 in Hernando, MS. Betty worked in the banking industry as a bookkeeper for Chicago Heights National Bank and Klycek S&L and later was a proud homemaker. She and her family enjoyed travel and had the distinction of visiting all 50 states. Betty loved to walk the beaches of Texas and Florida, see the sun set over the Western mountains and, as an outdoorsman, enjoyed big game hunting and fishing with John. Betty was also known for her beautiful flower gardens and like to watch her rock garden grow by donations from her family's travels. Always dressed to the nines, she was a special lady and considered to be the best wife, mom and grandma there ever was. She and John were very active in the kid's lives. She mentored and traveled to cheer them on in the Junior Olympics and also coached and managed their softball teams. Her presence will be missed and her memory forever cherished by all who knew and loved her. Surviving to mourn Betty's passing is her husband of 47 years, John; four children: Lisa (Don) Kemling of Lowell, IN, John (Tracey) Smith of Carmel, IN, Dan (Geri) Strandberg of Gilbert, AZ and Mark Strandberg of CA; two sisters: Gail (Angelo) Nardella of Park Forest, IL and Paula (Keith) Selk of Centerville, MO; nine grandchildren: Mike, Jenni and Alli Kemling; Courtney (John) Cooley; Brittany, J.D. and Jesse Smith; and Kyle and Scott Strandberg; newly arrived great grandson, Jake; and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. The family invites relatives and friends to visit Saturday, February 23, 2008 from 3:00 p.m. until the time of Betty's celebration of life at 6:00 p.m. in the Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 8178 S.
