AUGUSTA, Ga. - Entered into rest Wednesday, September 24, 2014, Mrs. Betty Ruth Davis, 89, loving wife to the late William H. Davis. Mrs. Davis was a member of St. James United Methodist Church and of the Beckum Bible Class. She was an avid tennis player and a member of the Petersburg Racquet Club. She was a teller at First National Bank of Augusta. Mrs. Davis was also a member of the Greater Augusta Chapter - POW/MIA and alumnus of Tubman High School. Family members include sons: Glenn E. Davis (Karen) of Evans, Greg Davis (Sandra) of Canton, GA; grandchildren: Nancy Davis Baker (Matt), Matt Oates, Pat Oates (Kristen), Carrie Davis Baker (Jeff), Brad Davis, Elaine Davis Allen (Joseph), Evan Davis (Agatha); 5 great grandchildren; brother: Charles P. Owens; and several nieces and nephews. A graveside service will be Saturday, September 27, 2014 at 10:00 A.M. in Westover Memorial Park with Rev. Sandra Leightner officiating. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to St. James United Methodist Church, 439 Greene St., Augusta, GA 30901. The family will receive friends Friday evening from 6:00 until 8:00 P.M. at Thomas Poteet & Son Funeral Directors, 214 Davis Rd., Augusta, GA 30907 (706) 364-8484.
