Betty Chapman Bailey Lee Betty Chapman Bailey Lee stepped into the arms of her Lord on Feb. 12, 2008, in Suwanee, Ga. She ended her courageous battle with Alzheimer's disease and joins her husband, Gene, and infant son, who preceded her in death. Betty was born in Montgomery, Ala., on Aug. 10, 1927, to Frank and Louise Chapman and was educated in the public school system there.She then attended the University of Alabama where she met her husband, Gene. She was a lifelong resident of Tallahassee, where she was a successful Realtor and was active in the Tallahassee Woman's Club, the Tallahassee Garden Club and the Leon County Blood Bank. Betty was a longtime member of St. Paul's United Methodist Church.She was a loving mother to her children and grandchildren. A gracious hostess who welcomed family and friends into her home, she will always be remembered for her compassion for others, her courage and her integrity. For her to be free is a cause for celebration. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Cathy and Ron Redding of Suwanee, Ga., the families of her grandchildren, Ron and Lisa Redding, and her first great-grandchild, Bailey Marie, and John and Amanda Redding of Chicago, Ill. She also leaves her daughter, Geanne Bailey, and her grandchildren, Meghan Martin, Sarah Martin, Ansley Bailey Brunick and Buddy Martin and his wife, Annabelle.She is also survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Hugh and Denise Bailey, and their children, Emily and Tucker Chapman. After the death of her first husband, she married the now-late John C. Lee. She is also survived by his children, Suzanne and Chris Lee (Richard Lee preceded her in death), and four grandchildren.A graveside service will be at 2 p.m. EST Tuesday, Feb. 19, at Sunny Dell Cemetery in Gretna, Fla.
