May 9, 2009 Ms. Betty Brown, 60, of Syracuse, passed away peacefully, Saturday, at home, surrounded by her family and friends. She was a member of Hopps CME Church. Betty was employed as a licensed practical nurse at St. Camillus Health and Rehabilitation Center. She was preceded in death by her mother, Frances Heyward; and grandson, Khalif Holloman. She leaves to cherish her memory, four daughters, Zoe, Heather, Melissa Heyward and Francine Lanier (James Jr.) all of Syracuse; her father, Julian Heyward II of Columbia, SC; four sisters, Jimmie L. Reese, Florence Williams (Pete), Cynthia Scott (Oral) and Sandra Jones all of Syracuse; three brothers, Isaiah Reese of Virginia Beach, VA, Julian H. Heyward III of Sidney, Australia and Thomas Lee of Syracuse, NY; 13 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; one aunt; and a host of loving god-daughters, cousins, nieces, nephews and friends. Calling hours will be Friday 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Hopps Memorial CME Church, 1110 S. State St., with funeral services to follow at 1 p.m. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery. Garland Bros.
