BATH, S.C. - Mrs. Betty Britt Smith, 78, of Bath, SC, beloved wife of nearly fifty years to Kenneth 'Ken' Smith and daughter of the late Dewey and Susie Mae Phillips Britt, died Friday, April 3rd, 2009. Born in and a lifelong resident of Aiken County, SC, she retired from the Aiken County R.M.C. Office after nineteen years of service. A member of Bath First Baptist Church, Betty was a member of the Ruth Sunday School Class. Prior to her health declining, she enjoyed helping others, crocheting, and bell collecting. In addition to her husband, family members include a daughter, Pam Sanders, (Marvin) North Augusta, SC; brother, the late Tommy Britt, sister, the late Verdis Miller, grandchildren, Tonya Wallace, (Gary) and Patrick Britt Sanders, and great-grandchildren, James and John Tatum. A Celebration of Life Service will be held Monday, April 6th, 2009, at 3 o'clock at Bath First Baptist Church, Bath, SC, with Pastor Ronnie Duncan officiating. Interment will follow in Sunset Memorial Gardens, Graniteville, SC. At her request, Betty will be placed in the church at 2 o'clock on Monday. Friends may call at the family residence. The family will greet friends Sunday, April 5th, 2009, from 6 until 8 o'clock at Hatcher Funeral Home & Cremation Service, U.S. Hwy. #1, Langley, SC. Sign the guestbook at AugustaChronicle.com
