JOHNSON, BETTY BOSWORTH, 81, of Louisville, passed away peacefully Wednesday, November 10, 2010, surrounded by her loving family. Born in Lexington, KY, she attended Lafayette High School and the University of Kentucky, and in 1949 married James O. Johnson of Nonesuch, KY. They moved to Louisville in 1957 and were married 54 years before his death in 2004. In Louisville, she worked at the Westport High School Counseling office and volunteered her talents with a number of philanthropic and civic organizations, including the Festival of Trees and Lights, the Louisville Zoo, and the St. Matthews YMCA. She was a member of Beargrass Christian Church for more than 50 years. She is survived by her four children, J. Winn Johnson (Mary) of Lawrenceville, GA, Lynne Johnson (Jim) of Sacramento, CA, Emily Pezzulich (Alan) of Springfield, VA, and Bruce Johnson (Karla) of Lawrenceville, GA; seven grandchildren; her brother, Ben Bosworth of Boone, NC; and her dear friend, Clark "Bud" James. She is remembered as a huge fan of UK sports, Hershey's chocolate, bourbon and Coke, cruising and for making every gathering into a party. Visitation is Sunday from 1-5 p.m., with the funeral service on Monday at noon, both at Pearson Funeral Home, 149 Breckenridge Lane. Graveside service follows the Monday service at 2:30 p.m. at Winchester Cemetery in Winchester, KY. Expressions of sympathy may be made to Wayside Christian Mission or to the donor's charity of choice. Special thanks to the ICU and CCU staffs at Norton Suburban Hospital for their tremendous, compassionate care to Mrs. Johnson, and to her family and friends.
