BROWN, Betty January 27, 1933 - July 30, 2007 Betty Ann Brown (nee Moorhouse) of Evansburg, AB., passed away Monday, July 30th, 2007 at the Royal Alexandra Hospital in Edmonton. Betty was born in Calgary, January 27, 1933. Having moved many times throughout her childhood with her mother, Ethel and sisters Jean and Audrey, she began a new life with deep roots when she married Ivan Brown of Magnolia, November 25, 1950. During their 56 years of marriage, Betty and Ivan raised five children. Not only a dedicated wife and mother, Betty was always very active in her community. As a mother she is remembered for her never ending dedication to her children in all aspects of their lives. Betty worked endlessly as a volunteer and organizer for numerous organizations. Some of the awards bestowed on her were the Air Canada "Heart of Gold" volunteer award, the Queen's Jubilee Gold medal and Evansburg's Citizen of the Year. The professional aspects of her life included bookkeeping for her husbands businesses, medical receptionist, postal clerk, hardware clerk, co-owner of "BarBetts" ladies fashion store and Mayor of Evansburg. She was very politically active and was always working for the betterment of her town. Many of her ideas became reality through her hard work and persistence. Predeceased by her mother, father, stepfather and a baby grandson. Left to mourn their loss is her loving husband, Ivan Brown, sons Ron Brown (Sonya), Marvin Brown (France), daughters - Dawn Cacka (John), Gail Congo (Larry), Lynn Carter (Bill) as well as 19 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. Betty's large extended family included her two sisters, Jean McLean and Audrey Deardoff, brothers-in-law, uncles, aunts, nephew and nieces, numerous friends and church family. All have many fond memories and will miss her dearly. Betty was a friend to all, her humour, giving nature and love of others before herself will be remembered forever. The family is forever grateful to the Doctors and nursing staff of the University, Glenrose and Royal Alex Hospitals of Edmonton for their outstanding care and compassion given to her over the last seven and a half months. Celebration of Betty's life will be Friday, August 3, 2007 at 11:00 a.m. - Evansburg Royal Canadian Legion in Evansburg, AB. Her pastor, Al Litchfield officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations can be given to "Pembina Village Auxiliary Society" c/o Box 40, Evansburg, AB T0E 0T0. Evansburg Funeral Services entrusted with arrangements. 727-2791
