Betty A. Johnson of Mt. Ivy-Pomona, NY, died Tuesday January 28, 2003. She was 88. Mrs. Johnson worked as a shipping clerk for Lederle Laboratories in Pearl River, NY. She was with the company for 38 years before retiring in 1977. She was a member of the Lederle Union 743 in Pearl River, NY. Mrs. Johnson was born October 1, 1914 in New York City to John and Elizabeth Riese. She grew up in Pearl River and graduated from Pearl River High School. Mrs. Johnson lived in Mt. Ivy-Pomona for the past 40 years. Before that she lived in Pearl River from 1919 to 1950. Locally she was a member of the Evangelical Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd, Pearl River, NY. Mrs. Johnson will be remembered for her fondness of animals. She is survived by Ray Johnson, her husband, Barbara Johnson Brisco, her stepgrandfather and three grandchildren.
