Bethy Lou Henderson, born Jan. 25, 1938, in Boaz, Ala., went to be home with the Lord on Dec. 5, 2007, after an extended illness.She is survived by her loving husband of 49 years, Willie B. Henderson; daughter, Susan Thompson (Mike), Punta Gorda, Fla.; son, Philip Henderson (and Anna), Punta Gorda; grandsons, Brandon Thompson (and Jennifer), Flushing, Mich., Cole Thompson, Cottondale, Fla., and Adam Henderson, Punta Gorda; great-grandson, Brayden Thompson, Flushing; brother, Gary Roden, Boaz; and sister, Barbara Henderson, Las Vegas.She was preceded in death by her mother, Moryne Roden, and father, Dorsey Roden, and her brother, Donald Roden.Beth earned her LPN at Mott Community College School of Nursing in 1975 and worked at a local hospital for several years. Prior to that, she had worked for Dr. Kennedy and Dr. Farner, Flint, Mich., and Boaz Hospital.Beth served the Lord in her churches in Michigan, the last being Westside Baptist Church of Flushing, where she enjoyed working with children in the AWANA program for many years. She also sang in the choir at various times during her life of service. She was a member of the Order of Eastern Star, Chapter 38, Flint, for many years.Beth and Willie came to Punta Gorda from Flint to visit about 20 years ago and loved the area and the people. They moved here permanently about 15 years ago.The family will receive friends on Saturday, Dec. 8, 2007, from 10 to 11 a.m. at the Charlotte Memorial Funeral Home, 9400 Indian Springs Cemetery Road, Punta Gorda, FL 33950. A funeral service will follow the visitation at the funeral home at 11 a.m.
