WILLIAMS Bessie (Thomas), and her twin Lessie Thomas-Jackson were born on July 7, 1936 in Robeson County, North Carolina to the late John Foster and Katie Princess (Gales) Thomas. Bessie was educated at UP Church High School in Raeford, NC. Shortly after, she moved to Paterson, NJ. After her modeling career she worked several jobs which included Grady's and Pipkin's Restaurants here in the City of Paterson. She met many of her extended family and friends in her barmaid positions. She was a dear friend to all who knew her. Bessie was preceded in death by brothers, Paul, Alexander, James Wilbert, Charlie, John, Jr. and sisters, Mary, Martha, Sarah, Thelma, Emma, Ruby and her twin Lessie. She leaves to cherish her memories: her son, Avery Lee Thomas, one brother: Rev. Ernest Thomas, two sisters: Estella Thomas McNair (Clyde) and Dorothy Thomas McIntyre all of Paterson, NJ, devoted uncles: Rev. Paul Thomas of Pinehurst, NC, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family and friends. Relatives and friends are invited to celebrate her life on Saturday, May 17th 8 AM at The First A.M.E. Zion Church 326 Ellison St., Paterson, NJ. Interment: Fairlawn Memorial Cemetery.
