COOLEY, Bessie Lucille (nee McMurdo) Febuary 6, 1926 May 14, 2009 It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our mother, and grandmother Bessie Lucille Cooley on May 14, 2009 in Victoria, B.C. after a brave battle with ALS and cancer. Bessie was born on Feb. 6, 1926 in Elk Point, Alberta. She retired from teaching in 1987 and moved to Victoria in 1992 where she continued with her love of traveling and tutoring. She volunteered at the Mustard Seed Food Bank and came to work there every Tuesday and Thursday morning from 8:00 am to 11:00 am for 14 years without fail. She will be fondly remembered for her quick wit and sense of humour. She was predeceased by her husband Glen and parents Elza and Angie McMurdo, brother Don and sister Eleanor. Bessie will be lovingly missed by her sons Ron (Jane), Melvin (Janice), Scott, grandchildren Chad, Danielle, and Lauren, brother Lloyd (Mae), and many relatives and friends. In lieu of flowers please consider a small donation to the ALS Society, B.C. Cancer Society or Hospice. A memorial service will be held at Spencer Castle at 2906 Cook St. Sunday, June 7 at 2 p.m. Doors open at 1:30 p.m. Please join us in remembering Bessie. 543431
