Bertie Lee Williams, age 82, of Valparaiso, Fla., passed away Aug. 4, 2009, at her home with her family and friends by her side. She was born on June 26, 1927, in Pope, Miss., to the late Robert Miles and Daisy Walker Lipe. Lee graduated as a Registered Nurse from the Mattie Hersey Hospital School of Nursing. She received a master's degree in counseling from Stevens College and also attended numerous colleges and universities pursuing her degree in the field of nursing. Lee was instrumental in starting OMAC and was a volunteer with Crossroads, the Disaster Team, the Council on Aging, and the American Cancer Society, just to name a few of the many agencies she volunteered for. She was also a very active member of the First Baptist Church of Niceville, where she loved her church family dearly. Lee was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Henry W. "Jack" Williams; four sisters, Margaret Burns, Kate Anthony, Louise Cosby and Pat Craig; and three brothers, Connie, Bobby and Alexander Lipe. Survivors include a daughter, Cheryl Hall of Valparaiso; two sons, Mark (Lisa) Williams of Seattle, and Jon Williams of Valparaiso; four grandchildren, Chris Hall of Valparaiso, Lisa (Jim) Morelli of Valparaiso, Brian Williams of Montana, and Chris Williams of Washington; two great-grandchildren, Cody Williams Hall and Korey Morelli; and two brothers, JW (Helen) Lipe and Harvey Johnson. A visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday at Heritage Gardens Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 8, at the funeral home.
