Bertha Gladys Anderson April 22, 1933 June 20, 2009 With heavy hearts the family of Bertha Gladys Anderson (nee Farquhar) announce her passing on June 17, 2009 at the Kerrobert Hospital at the age of 76 years. Mom was born on April 22, 1933 in Kerrobert, Saskatchewan to Bert and Blanche Farquhar, she was the second born of their six children. Bertha grew up and took all her education in Kerrobert. She has always held her community close to her heart and collected and created many scrap books preserving our community's history. It was very important to Mom to be home during her final hours of her battle with Cancer. Most precious to Mom was her loving family, especially her six children. Although Mom held various parttime jobs throughout the years, her main focus was always family. She enjoyed working with the public, and many people may have fond memories of her working and volunteering at many different places in the community. From her early days at Sample Brothers Store, time spent working at the Lanigan Hotel, Clothes Relations and Kerrobert Hardware, to her countless hours working the gate at the Tiger Games and other social events, Mom loved the contact with friends and strangers alike. An avid sports fan, Mom never missed a Tiger hockey game or a Rider football game, and she proudly cheered on Team Canada and the Edmonton Oilers. It wasn't unusual to get a phone call from Mom after one of these games, exclaiming, wasn't that the best game you've ever seen! Mom leaves to cherish her memory, her six children; Richard (Vicki) Anderson, Donald (Laura) Angus, Carla (Dan) Pitura, Bob (Christie) Anderson, Michael Anderson (Donna Perman), and Joel Anderson (Vanessa Frehlich); her sisters, Jean (Merv) Ermel, Eleanor Calder; brothers, John (Wendy) Farquhar, Bob (Dianne) Farquhar. She also leaves to mourn her first husband, Glen Angus; and sister-in-law, June Angus; special friend, Peter Reilkoff; as well as many other relatives and friends. Mom's grandchildren and great-grandchildren were an important part of her life. Allison (Curtis), Wyatt and Taylor Knorr; Kristin (Lorin), Kenzie, Ali, Bree, and Dawson Halter; John (Christina); Whitney (Andrew); Charity and Austin Angus; Danielle, Amber and Chad Pitura, Danielle and Steven Anderson; Melissa Perman and Michaela Anderson, and Kara Frehlich, will miss their Grammy dearly. Mom was predeceased by; her sister, Roberta Mack; parents, Bert and Blanche Farquhar; brotherin-law, Bill Calder; second husband, Carl Anderson; and great grandson, Jayden Knorr. Mom was heartbroken with the passing of many other relatives and close friends. A memorial service will be held Saturday, June 20, 2009 at 2:00 p.m. at the Kerrobert United Church. In lieu of flowers, donations to the KLD Wellness (Box 205, Kerrobert, SK S0L 1R0), will be graciously accepted. The new hospital project is near and dear to Mom's heart.
