Obituary of Bernice-Lucille Morais

Bernice Lucille Morais, 86 ALFRED -- Bernice L. 'Mar' Morais, 86, a lifelong resident of Alfred, passed away with her loving family by her side on Nov. 21, 2010, at the Greenwood Center in Sanford. Bernice was born on Jan. 31, 1924, in Waldoboro, the daughter of Lydia and Albert Weaver. As a young woman, she met and married her 'one and only' Aimes Morais on Jan. 30, 1943. Together, they were not only soul mates, but worked side by side and they shared their lives with six children and their families. Bernice was a true matriarch of her family and was a kind and loving wife, mother, grandmother and sister. She enjoyed her time with her many family members and was lovingly known as Mar, Bunny, Mommy Dear, Mother Biscuit, and Nanny. A homemaker by trade, Bernice cared and nurtured for all of her family members. Even at the age of 80, she planned and prepared many holiday meals and was like the 'Energizer Bunny' before her Alzheimer's affected her daily living. For the many friends and those who were part of her extended family, you will remember the 'mile high' pies, dinner rolls, raised donuts and her love for classic country music. Her life will continue to be celebrated by her family, though her absence will be felt by many. Bernice was predeceased by two daughters, Amy Raybine and Lorraine Morais; one grandson, Roland Daney Jr.; and five siblings, Maxzine, Ruth, Esther, Dot, and Donnie. She is survived by her husband of 66 years, Aimes; her sisters, Kathy Waltz and Shirley Peasley; her brother-in-law, Artie Morais; her four children, Lila Butler and husband Norman, Sylvio Morais and wife Linda, Aimes Morais Jr. and wife Brenda, and Bernice Drown and husband Monty; 17 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren. As Mrs. Morais requested, services will be private. To leave a message of condolence for the family, please visit www.autumngreenfuneralhome.com.
