Bernice Evelyn Brown, 79, Port Charlotte, died May 10, 2003. She was born May 8, 1924, in Knob Lick, Ky., and moved to Indianapolis in 1947, where she and her husband owned several businesses, the last being Brownie's Marine Sales in Fairland, Ind., from 1966 to 1972. She later moved to Austin, Texas, and worked with her sons at Willie Nelson's Opera House as an office manager. In 1987, she moved back to Florida and worked for her sons as bookkeeper for DB Sound in Punta Gorda and then for Captain Tom Fisher at Aqua Scuba in Port Charlotte. Survivors include daughters Margaret Massey and Barbara McDonald, both of Indianapolis; sons Donald of Punta Gorda and Ronald of Port Charlotte; a sister, Mary M. Morgan of Bakerton, Ky.; five grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. A memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at First United Methodist Church in Punta Gorda, with a time of fellowship to follow. Graveside services will be held in Greenwood, Ind., at a future date. Larry Taylor Funeral and Cremation Services of Punta Gorda is in charge.
