Bernice (Bernie) Annie Talbot nee Williams passed away peacefully on October 12, 2009, at Rosetown Hospital, Rosetown, Saskatchewan. Bernie was born August 14, 1918 in Moosomin, Saskatchewan. Predeceased by her husband, Richard (Dick) Talbot in 1975. Following Dick and Bernie's marriage in 1941, they farmed 1/2 mile west of Eston. Bernie owned and operated the Eston Variety Store with Dell Lockwood until 1961 when they moved to Calgary with their youngest daughter, Darlene. After Dick's death, Bernie continued to live in Calgary until 1991 when she moved to Saskatoon, SK. In 2002, she moved to the Sunshine Manor in Elrose, SK., to be near her daughter, Darlene Ellis. Bernie was always a great hostess and loved to bake and entertain. She was well known for her pies and butter tarts, a favourite with her grandchildren. She loved to travel and enjoyed trips to Hawaii, Ottawa, Coquitlam, Whistler, Bermuda, Europe and Australia. She will be sadly missed by her three daughters and their families: Shirley Ewen, husband, Glen, of Ottawa, their daughter, Nicky and husband, Jeff Ballingall of Surrey, BC; Colleen Talbot and husband Jim Allard of Coquitlam, BC and their two sons, Daniel Allard of Coquitlam, BC and Marty Allard of Victoria, BC; and Darlene Ellis of Elrose, SK and her two children, Sarah Ellis of Saskatoon, SK and Robert Ellis of Elrose, SK. A Memorial Service will be held at the Elrose Health Center on Wednesday October 14 at 2pm. Memorial donations can be made to the Spina Bifida and Hydrocephalus Association of BC, 4480 Oak St., Vancouver, BC V6H 3V4. Published in the Saskatoon StarPhoenix from 10/13/2009- 10/14/2009
