Bernice A. Lyons 1918-2013 CHICOPEE - Bernice Ann (Flanagan) Lyons, 95 of Chicopee and formerly of Fullerton Street, Indian Orchard passed away peacefully on Friday, September 6, 2013 at Loomis House, Holyoke. Bernice, a daughter of the late James C. and Mary H. (Foley) Flanagan was born in Springfield on May 18, 1918. Raised in Springfield she graduated from the High School of Commerce. She resided in Springfield, and Indian Orchard most of her life and in Chicopee for the past 12 years. She was a communicant of the former St. Matthew's Church in Indian Orchard, volunteered for Goodwill Industries, and loved to travel. In addition to her parents, Bernice was predeceased by her husband of 61 years, William J. Lyons who died September 11, 1999 and two daughters, Patricia Ann Lyons and Ann Marie Mullen. She is survived by three daughters, Margaret M. Jobbins of Springfield, Susan E. Kelly and her husband Francis of Greenfield, and Mary (Marilou) Remillard and her husband Serge of Newnan, GA; 8 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren. A funeral home service for Bernice will be held on Monday, September 9, 2013 at 3 p.m. at Sampson's Chapel of the Acres Funeral Home, 21 Tinkham Road, Springfield. Rites of Committal and Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions in Bernice's memory may be made to Dr. Stephen D. Hassenfeld Children's Center for Cancer and Blood Disorders, NYU Langone Medical Center, Office of Development, One Park Avenue 17th Floor, New York, NY 10016. A visiting hour for Bernice will precede her service on Monday afternoon from 2 to 3 p.m.
