Mrs. Berda Ruth Smith was born October 30, 1933 to the parentage of Frank and Azera Taylor in Wetumpka, Alabama. Berda accepted Christ at an early age and joined the Mount Canaan Baptist Church in Elmore County and later became a member of the Greater Thankful Baptist Church for the last 40 years. She served on the Usher Board, Kitchen Committee and was a very faithful member until death. She attended the Elmore County School System. Berda worked for many years for Attorney Boice and Connie Turner and Tony and Brenda Reaves. Funeral services will be Saturday at 11 a.m. at Greater Thankful Baptist Church with Rev. P. Q English officiating and Anniston Memorial Funeral Home directing. Burial will be in Anniston Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends one hour before service time at the church. God dispatched an Angel and Berda answered the Master's call on September 26, 2010 at Stringfellow Hospital. Berda leaves to cherish her memories, a very special and devoted son, Randall K. Smith, of Atlanta, GA.; two sisters, Lera B. Taylor, of Glencoe and Frazie Russell, of Anniston, nieces and nephews, Brenda Crook and Elizabeth (Dennis) Crawford, both of Anniston, and Rev. Willie D. Rawla, of Virginia, Alfred Russell, of Anniston, Michael and Kenneth Youngblood, of Sylacauga, Susan and Greg Taylor, of California, Barbara Smith, of St. Louis, Mo. and Wade and Delois Hooks, of Michigan and a host of other relative and friends. She leaves special friends, Juanita Nails, Mary Helen Harris, Annie Lee Talley, Mrs. Ida English, Jennifer McCormick and Margaret and Charles Green. She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Alexander F. Smith; sister, Ora Pearl Youngblood, Annie B. Rawls; brothers, Lafayette, Leftwicth, Elazer and Lindsey Taylor; nieces Caroline and Natasha Jenkins and Rebecca Rawls and nephews, John Eddie Russell and Eric Youngblood.
