LAFAYETTE - Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, Oct. 24, 2005, at a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Edmond Catholic Church for Beauty Jane Broussard, 77, the former Jane Smith, who died at 4:25 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 20, 2005, at her residence.Interment will be in Lafayette Memorial Park in Lafayette.The Rev. Gary Schexnyder, pastor of St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Church of Crowley, will be the celebrant of the funeral Mass and will conduct the funeral services. Giftbearers will be Benjamin Fontenot and Carissa Broussard. Jodi Bollich, organist, will sing for the funeral Mass "I Can Only Imagine", "Amazing Grace", "Morning Has Broken", "On Eagles' Wings", "Nearer My God To Thee" and "How Great Thou Art".Survivors include two daughters, Lena Fontenot and her husband, Darrell, of Lafayette, Dardnella Tornblom and her husband, Paul, of New Iberia; one son, Woodrow E. "Butch" Broussard Jr. and his wife, Judy, of Lafayette; 13 grandchildren, Benjamin, Damon, Jeremy and Victoria Fontenot, Peter, Andrew, and Elizabeth Tornblom, B.J., Carissa, Fallon, Chad and Alexis Broussard and Hunter Lanerie; five great-grandchildren, Randi Leon, Megan Fontenot, Patrick Smith, Jayden Smith and Titus Tornblom; two sisters, Mazie Dupre' and Frances Vinet; two brothers, James Smith and Lindsey Smith.She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 37 years, Woodrow E. Broussard Sr.; mother, Lena M. Milliman Smith and father, Gabriel Smith; two sisters, Pearly Hebert and Mae Bryars; four brothers, Alton, Wilson, Andy and John David "Red" Smith. .Mrs. Broussard was a native of Gueydan and a resident of Lafayette for 56 years. She was a member of the St. Edmond's Catholic Community, St. Edmond's Lady's Altar Society and previous board member of the P.T.A. at Mount Carmel. Mrs. Broussard was employed as an L.P.N. at the Lafayette Sanitarium.Rosaries will be prayed at 6 p.m. today and Sunday in the Martin & Castille Funeral Home.The family requests visiting hours be observed from 10 a.m. until 10 p.m. today and Sunday and will continue from 8 a.m. Monday until time of services Monday.Pallbearers will be Benjamin, Damon, Jeremy Fontenot, Chad Broussard, Peter and Andrew Tornblom.
