Beatrice-Margaret Miller, born in 1914, spouse of John Miller, daughter of Mathew and Mabel, mother of Noreen, Margaret, Ont and Judy, died on February 8, 2003 at 88 years old.
BEATRICE MARGARET MATHIEU PETERSON Beatrice Margaret Mathieu Peterson, 88, of Fort Frances, Ont., passed away Saturday, Feb. 8, 2003 at La Verendrye General Hospital in Fort Frances. She was born April 17, 1914 in Fort Frances to the late Mathew and Mabel Miller. Beatrice was a member of St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church and a member of the C.W.L., and was very active in her church. She enjoyed sports, including curling, golf, football, and baseball, and was a dedicated Minnesota Vikings and Chicago Cubs fan. On Nov. 9, 1968, she married her second husband, John, and moved to International Falls, Mn., where she lived until returning to Fort Frances in 1996, where she had lived since. Beatrice is survived by her two daughters, Noreen Stinson and Margaret Cousineau, both of Fort Frances, Ont. Also surviving are nine grandchildren, Noreen (Larry) Gustafson, Dr. Thomas (Susan) Cousineau, Paul (Lisa) Cousineau, Mary (Scott) Knutson, John Cousineau, Anne (Thomas) Blumer and Betsy (Tom) Neutgens, Shari (Dave) Brodean, and Michelle (Terry) Rautialla; 15 great-grandchildren, Sarah and Heather Gustafson, Jessica, Donovan, and Chandler Cousineau, Andrew, Daniel, and Katelyn Knutson, Nicole and Dominic Neutgens, Josh and Chelsey Brodean, and Dusty, Cody, and Maddy Rautialla; one brother, Robert “Bibbs” (Roberta) Miller; one sister, Dorothy Thomson; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. She was united in marriage on July 17, 1932 to Thomas Mathieu, who predeceased her Oct. 2, 1965. She also was predeceased by her second husband, Melvin “M.J.” Peterson; daughter, Judy McKenzie on Sept. 14, 1992; son-in-law, Doug McKenzie; brother, Bud Miller; and an infant grandson, Bernard Cousineau. A memorial mass will be held Wednesday, Feb. 12, 2002 at 11 a.m. at St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church in Fort Frances, with Fr. Ed Merchant S.J. officiating. Interment will take place at a later date in Holy Cross Cemetery in Fort Frances.
